America Speaks – The Results

Well, well, well. Interesting how things work out. America has spoken and the will of the people realized. Syesha is going home. To be honest, the results do not surprise me. Syesha has been “tottering on the edge” for quite some time. It’s no secret that she has been my least favorite finalist, but she did hang on longer than I expected.

My prediction all along has been that David Cook will win the American Idol title. I do think he deserves to win. In my opinion, he has more talent and his style is more original than the other David’s. Having said that, David Archuletta might prove more popular, especially since every pre-teen girl in the country seems to be going absolutely bonkers over him. With that in mind, I will change my predicition. I think David Archuletta will win.

One last thing. Was Fantasia’s performance really that annoyingly noisy? My response to her act was less than positive. In fact, I think I might be turning into my mother. Turn that down! You call that music?

Fantasia: a composition in fanciful or irregular form or style; something unreal, weirdly exotic

Fantasia lives up to her name, but for me, tonight’s performance was more of a nightmare than a dream. Or, am I just getting old? Don’t answer that! 

American Idol – The Review…Almost There

The season is winding down. Here is my very abbreviated review for tonight’s show.

David Cook: First song, Meh. Didn’t move me. Second song, one of my favorite rock songs of all time. Ruined it.

Syesha Mercado: First song, you go girl. Loved the song. Loved the energy. Still, that voice…Simon was spot on with his comment, shrieky. Second song, one of my favorites by Sam Cook. Not only did Syesha nail the song, she wore a very pretty dress, too.

Jason Castro: First song, I was not sure what to think. I suppose the dreds did give him some reggae cred. But, Bob Marley must be spinning in his grave. Second song, Jason, go home. Please.

David Archuletta: First song, One word, boring. By the way, young David must be really, really short because even Ryan Seacrest towers over him. Just an observation. Second song, great vocals. I can appreciate the kid because he does have talent. Still, kind of boring for me. 

If Jason Castro doesn’t go home tomorrow then pigs are flying and a very hot place has frozen over. 

My prediction still stands: David Cook will win it all.
